Olympia Community Solar purchasing program in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Skagit, Island, Whatcom, Walla Walla, and the city of Kenmore

Solarize is a solar group purchasing campaign. It makes the process of installing solar power simple, affordable, and secure. By purchasing solar equipment in bulk and partnering with well-qualified installers, Olympia Community Solar helps communities to save money on solar power by leveraging their cumulative purchasing power for better prices. Over the last three years, Solarize have solidified this program as a regional success which has resulted in over 250 installations, totaling approximately 3.5 million dollars in investment.

On March 1st, Olympia Community Solar announced their fourth annual Solarize campaign, a solar energy program available now through July 4th. This year they are expanding the program to operate in 7 counties including Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Skagit, Island, Whatcom, Walla Walla, and the city of Kenmore. The program will support residents to install solar panels on their homes and businesses. You can reserve your free solar assessment on the program webpage olysol.org/solarize.

Installing solar on your home can seem like a daunting process: from perceived costs, to complicated technical details, to figuring out which installers to choose. That's why Olympia Community Solar is sponsoring Solarize, a solar group purchasing program. Olympia Community Solar’s previous Solarize programs have resulted in over 250 solar installations around the Puget Sound. In preparation to launch the campaign, Olympia Community Solar facilitated a competitive bidding process to secure solar installers. They vetted contractors for equipment quality, business practices, and negotiated special pricing. By purchasing solar in bulk and partnering with trusted installers, Solarize is making the process of going solar simple, secure, and accessible.

To be part of Solarize, sign up for a free solar site assessment at olysol.org/solarize. A Solarize installer will provide a site assessment of your home or business and provide a detailed solar proposal at the campaign’s discounted group rate. If you choose to contract, the solar installer will schedule the date of your solar installation.

Solar customers benefit from reduced energy bills thanks to their solar production and net metering. Net metering is an agreement between a customer and their utility that allows them to earn utility bill credits for any extra energy that flows back into the electrical grid. Customers can offset their entire electrical bill with solar, except for their fixed monthly customer charge.
